I also need it to be reliable and not a maintenance hog. I'm looking for the ability to de-cock and do it safely, it must be ambidextrous (I'm a lefty), compact, quiet and accurate. I'm getting the itch to upgrade and have researched this to death. Don't get me wrong, I like the bow well enough and have killed a bunch of deer with it. Carrying my block target in my truck to discharge a bolt at the end of the day is an annoyance as it takes up a fair amount of space. However, my issues with it are, the stupid front end design that limits my broadhead choices, the inability to de-cock it, and there are more compact options out there. I can keep shooting this bow for the foreseeable future if I want. I just got it back from the shop after a limb and string replacement and was shooting yesterday to make sure my point of impact was still ok, and all is well. I'm currently shoot an MXB-360 that's 2014 vintage. So, I've been mulling this around for a good while. I hunt from a tree stand and blinds, so I make sure I know all my ranges out to 35 yards. I say occasionally because I probably have only done thar maybe 6 times. That being said, occasionally when I have longer shots know the exact yardage and have the time I adjust the optimizer for the exact yardage. My average shot distance has been 25 yards for the 125 animals I have taken in eleven years using XBows. The reason I lean toward the XR for hunting is I use an HHA optimizer and set my single reticle scope for 25 yards which allows me to shoot a deer at 20 yards - holding 2 inches low and holding 2 inches high for 30 yards and ultimately, I can shoot out to 35 yards by holding 4 inches high. I plan on using the XR for Hunting and the Sub 1 for practice and as a backup bow. I use the same arrow with a 100 grain BH/FT and get approximately 355 fps with the Sub 1. I shoot a 453 grain 20-inch Eagle Claw arrow with a 125 grain BH/ FT and get a little more than 380 fps with the XR. I like both Bows and would not base my purchase on the manual pull. The cam on the XR is difficult when first starting to cock the bow (first 8 to 10 inches) however, once you hit the cam let-off it becomes much easier to complete the pull. Click to expand.I have both the Sub 1 and the Sub 1 XR and I disagree that the Sub 1 is easier to manually cock.
